NRV is the leader of the consortium that was awarded the design contract to improve and electrify the Douro line, promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal.
The section, approximately 68km long, runs along the banks of the Douro River between Régua and Pocinho. In the past few years, the demand for this section has increased significantly as it is an area classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, with Pinhão station already an icon in the country.
The modernisation of the Douro line is part of the National Investment Plan - PNI2030, which is under implementation and aims to provide a consistent and uniform commercial offer between Caíde and Barca d'Alva, where this section is located.
