“Preserving life through dams” was the theme of the 5th DAM WORLD International Conference that took place this April at the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil. GEOVIA and LCW participated in the debate on current issues linked to dams and dikes with the article “The Design and Construction of 71 Ndúe Dam – Angola.”
The article reflects on the challenges of designing a large dam in a complex geological-geotechnical context. The 27m high and 1.4km long earthen dam on the Caundo River (Cunene district, Angola) was a unique project for our team of designers, requiring adjustments in constant coordination between the design and construction teams.
