The project for the Afungi Permanent Airfield is a contract involving Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) which will serve as the primary means of passenger movement to and from aLiquified Natural Gas (LNG) Plant in the Afungi peninsula, located on the norteast coast of Mozambique.
The Afungi Airstrip includes the construction of a fully operational runway, including turnpads, taxiway, apron, terminal building and landside airfield access. The work shall be fased to align with the resettlement of household lan activities to the north of the site, regarding the following requirements:
Phase 1 – Paved runway with 1750m x 45m,
Phase 2 – Extension of paved runway to 2300m x 45m total length.
With the completion of first phase, the runway will be operational and ready to accommodate the Embraer ERJ145, Code Letter ICAO B, while at the same time is carrying out its expansion to achieve the 2300 m runway length. In phase 2, the design aircraft is Boeing 737-700, ICAO Code Letter C.
