This road is located on the south side of Madeira Island, to the west of Funchal, in the districts of Calheta and Ponta do Sol and is 3,5 km long. The section comprises two tunnels with lengths of around 1,9 km and 1,5 km, which are supported by five emergency galleries. The longest tunnel has three galleries and the shortest has two. The emergency galleries exits are associated with emergency stop stations, and one in each tunnel also possesses a U-turn gallery. Between the two tunnels there is a bridge that overpasses Madalena do Mar River.
Preliminary design and detailed design in engineering works like pavement, fire fighting system, lighting and electricity, ventilation and ITS equipments.
