NACALA AIRPORT CITY MASTER PLAN

Urban and Regional planning

Aeroportos de Moçambique (ADM) appointed to prepare a master plan for the area surounding the new Nacala International Airport, with financing by the Brazilian state bank BNDES.
The conversion of the former Nacala military airbase into an international airport, completed in 2014, should be of significant importance for the economic and social development of the entire Nacala region and even for the whole of northern Mozambique.
Nacala presents itself as one of the leading cities in Mozambique and one of the most important emerging international sea ports in the region, due to its location, natural conditions and existing facilities. The new Airport City will include a wide variety and mix of uses, taking advantage to its vicinity to the airport, port and major communication infrastructure.
The masterplan is a preliminary document, subject to approval by the local, provincial and central authorities that will guide the development of a very important area, subject to intense development pressures.
