NELSON MANDELA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - PAVING STUDY

Praia International Airport (ICAO code: GVNP), renamed in 2012 to Nelson Mandela International Airport, is located on Santiago island, about 3 km northeast of the city center of Praia, capital of Cape Verde. It has a runway of 2,100 m long by 45 m wide, which allows it to accomodate medium-sized aircraft, for example Boeing B737 and B757, Airbus A310 and A320.

As part of the airport extension contract, a paving study was developed for the aircraft parking expansion area, including apron and apron taxiway. Services also included base course bearing capacity evaluation with Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD).
