PORT OF LEIXÕES - PAVEMENT REHABILITATION

Hydraulics & Maritime works, Pavement monitoring

The Port of Leixões, located in Matosinhos - municipality surrounding the city of Porto - is the second largest artificial port in Portugal. It represents 25% of Portuguese foreign trade and handles around 14 million tons of goods per year. Functions mainly as an export port, serving virtually all types of ships (around 3,000 per year) and cargo, as well as cruises.

The project consisted of the diagnosis and development of pavement rehabilitation solutions for the Port of Leixões - Docks 1 South, 2 South and 4 North (including warehouses 13 and 15) and accesses to Port Ring Road (VCP). Study was developed based on a pavement functional and structural analysis including visual inspection, prospecting, and in situ and laboratory testing.
