THE ARRIVAL OF THE TUNNELING MACHINE AT SANTA APOLONIA

After digging 4,600 meters from Campolide, passing through all the interception works (Liberdade Avenue, Sta Marta Street, and Almirante Reis Avenue), the tunnel boring machine "Oli" reached the discharge structure (Santa Apolónia). Afterwards, it will be placed in Beato to start a new excavation front.
This work is part of the General Drainage Plan for Lisbon, a project by the Lisbon City Council aimed at preparing the city for the future, protecting it from floods and inundations associated with extreme precipitation events.
LCW, from Norvia Group, was responsible for several parts of the design of this project and has been supporting the works by providing specialized technical assistance services to the contractor Mota-Engil/SpieBatignoles.
