FISHING PORT PDA IFRI IFOUNASSENE

Hydraulics & Maritime works

The Fishing Port PDA Ifri Ifounassene Project was developed with the aim of relocating the existing fishing activity in Bétoya Bay.

The existing fishing fleet consisted of small vessels, dedicated to artisanal fishing, which were scattered around the bay. The fish unloading and the boats parking and maintenance was carried out on the beach. The only support for the fishermen was huts, located next to the beach.

 The project includes the following maritime and port works:

  • Main breakwater with 395,00 m long, of the breakwater rubble-mound type, with accropod and rockfill blocks;
  • Secondary breakwater with 100,00 m long, of the breakwater rubble-mound type, with rockfill blocks;
  • Two rubble mound seawalls with rockfill blocks: west rubble mound seawall with 115,00 m long, south rubble mound seawall with 140,00 m long;
  • Boat ramp with 10,50 m wide, 24,00 m long and a slope of 12,5%;
  • Port basin with 12.000,00 m2, and depths between -3,00 m (CD) and -6,50 m (CD);
  • Embankment with 19.600,00 m2, which includes buildings for processing and storing fish, buildings to support fishermen and boat maintenance, and areas for dry boat parking and vehicle parking;
  • Access road.

In a 2nd phase, to support boats parking, it is planned the construction of two fixed quays, each 76,75 m long and 3,00 m wide.
