The railway study involves interventions over a total length of around 15.5 kilometres between Sete-Rios and Sacavém, which include the following interventions:
The quadrupling of the railway Line between Roma/Areeiro (exclusive) and Braço de Prata Stations;
The modernisation of the Northern railway Line between Braço de Prata and Sacavém Stations, including the complete redesign of the track layout at Oriente railway Station, with the addition of three more tracks;
Construction of new railway stations at Chelas/Olaias, Braço de Prata and the new Marvila railway station, suitable for the new railway services and ensuring better safety, comfort and access for users. The railway station in Chelas will have an interface with the Olaias Metro Station;
Creation of three railway viaducts, one fly-over and two railway tunnels;
Electrification of the new tracks on the Linha de cintura and the Northern Line;
Construction of infrastructure to support the Signalling and Telecommunications component.
These interventions will allow for a significant increase in the number of trains on the Cintura and Northern Lines, as well as creating the conditions for the future implementation of new high-speed services between Lisbon-Porto and Lisbon-Madrid
