BLAISE DIAGNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Airports, Pavement monitoring

Blaise Diagne International Airport (ICAO code: GOBD) is an international airport near the town of Ndiass in Senegal, 43 km east of the center of Dakar. This infrastructure will have a capacity of 3 million passengers per year and serves as a new airport for Dakar, replacing the Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, which has become small. The airport, which has a runway with 3,500 m long and 60 m wide, with a parallel taxiway, is capable of accommodating latest generation aircrafts, namely the A380.

Following pavement works, during the construction of the new international airport, a functional evaluation of pavement surface was carried out measuring the evenness (IRI) with laser profilelometer and skid resistance with the Griptester.
