The Pout Dry Port project was promoted by the Autonomous Port of Dakar with a view to transferring part of the current port operations, taking into account the congestion of accesses and the impossibility of expanding the current port, with a major impact on operating costs, the environment and town planning. The chosen site, covering an area of 120 hectares, is located Pout, in the Thiès region, 50 km from Dakar and is currently served by the Dakar-Bamako railway line. The Dry Port will comprise a container platform with a capacity of 400,000 TEU/year, areas for bulk, RO-RO vehicles, logistics warehouses, support services and parking for heavy goods vehicles. The preliminary study includes the general plan, the study of the Dry Port platform, the rail access and a 12.6 km long road that will connect to the Dakar-Mbour motorway.
